Born: March 9, 1993 in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Residence: Albuquerque, New Mexico

Race is just beginning his racing career and he is off to an excellent start.  Race was selected as rookie of the year for 2008 in Modifieds at Sandia Motorsport Park. Race is proud of the fact that he was only one of four cars that was not involved in an incident at the track his first racing season.

Race is a Sophomore at Highland High school, and his previous racing experience was with rental Kart tracks. Many young drivers starting in Kart racing will move up to quarter midgets, mini sprints, etc. Race, with his Dad's encouragement, jumped feet first into the Modifieds. His Dad described it as "throwing him to the sharks", thus the nickname Nemo referring to the plight of the small fish in the big ocean in the Disney movie. Race is also involved in the fabrication of racing cars and has excellent welding skills.

Race Safro as a 15 year old young man has the focus and perseverance to set high goals.  He has been involved in building and designing cars since he was eleven. Several have received top regional and national recognition. At the age of 14 he designed and built a 1929 5 window Ford Model "A" in a complete Marine Theme.

Race's first race was in November of 2007 where he finished 5th. He has had a successful first season making all of the 16 races of the season. He started in the pole position in five races, lead in several races, had one top 3, 8 top 5, and 10 top 10 finishes. His driving style of clean and fast racing has earned him the respect of the veteran drivers. Race was named Rookie of the Year for the 2008 season, Race is driving number 39, a 1991-92 Harris Modified with a 355 Chevy engine which he has been able to make work well enough to race with the new updated chassis and the front runners.

When he is not at the track, he is working for himself at his own business,
RT Rods building and designing complete cars.

Race has been doing the maintenance and setup on the race car with some mentoring from his father, and a veteran driver/crew chief (Mr. Steve Deberry). He has learned how to lead and follow his peers when the time is right to do so.
