Gary R. Guinn
My First car was a ’79 firebird which I raced for three seasons, but never managed a full season. I started racing at Duke City raceway in 2003. I raced a handful of races at Sandia on the pavement in 2004 before joining the United States Marine Corps. I raced the second half of the 2008 season at Hollywood Hills and managed a lot of top ten finishes as well as a 14th place finish for the season. In 2009 I switched chassis from uni-body to a full frame Monte Carlo with a Budlong power plant. I won my first heat race the last night for stock cars at Hollywood Hills and finished my season out at Uranium Capital Speedway in Grants/Milian New Mexico. There I won a few more heat races and a season high finish of third place as well as an 8th place finish in season points.2009 also saw my Dream of a “Big Show” for Hobby Stocks take place at UCS where myself and good friend Tre Brewbaker (as well as a lot of others) put on the First Mudyard 50/50 with a $1000 paycheck to the winner, (I finished 8th). 2010 found me back at UCS where I won several heat races and two main events. A second Mudyard was put on where I finished fifth for the night. 2010 found a very controversial fourth place finish for me in the point’s standings, a lot of folks felt I should have had third place but a controversial call of “Rough Driving” ended by night early on the last point’s night while I was trailing by 5 points. As for 2011 a combo of the new Dirt Track at Sandia and of course my Favorite Track to Run UCS. My most memorable moment was racing well over half of the main event door to door swapping places every corner for the lead with the local legend George Baisden (who has won a race at nearly every track in the state). Very exiting and we never once touched. Thanks to my tireless Crew, My 2010 Crew Chief Landon Cheney (2011 competition), My wife Nikki, Mother-in-law Jeanette, my cousins the Fords, The Wheelers, George and Linda Baisden, and the Boelters. I am sure I forgot someone that helped at least one night and I am sorry if I did. I would also like to thank my sponsors whom without your help this would cost me a lot more and the car would not be as good. Outlaw Graphix, Budlong Motorsports, Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center of New Mexico, Precision Concrete Services, Big O Tires of Los Lunas, Hinkin Specialty Fabrications, Sunrise Sweeping, and of course Gretchen Hannum & Bob Lee. Thank you for all you do for my racing addiction. I would also like to thank a former sponsor who is no longer in business Napa of Los Lunas, they did a lot for me and the team and it’s a shame to lose a staple of Los Lunas, best of wishes to them.
