Chris started racing in 2006 after pitting for his dad Brian Perea who races the #68 mini sprint. He got to take out the car for a heat in El Paso, had so much  fun he bought his own car! He was originally the #81 car finished 6th place in club points (NM Mini Sprints), missed Rookie of the year by minimal points after crashing with his best finish in3rd place for the year.

2007 his best finish was 3rd place, finished 7th place in club point (Modified Midgets of NM/NM Mini Sprints) and 5th place in Hollywood Hill points.

He has raced at Sandia Speedway, Harvey Caplan Memorial Speedway, Hollywood Hills, in Gallup, Las Cruces, El Paso, Aztec and Tularosa.
