Caitlin Shaw is an 18-year-old female racecar driver from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has been racing cars for eight years. She started racing quarter midgets when she was nine and at age 14 moved up to race mini sprints where she was the youngest and only female driver. She was very successful in both of those divisions winning multiple championships in the quarter midgets and receiving Most Improved Mini-Sprint Driver at Sandia Motorsports Park. Last year she advanced into the USAC Ford Focus Midget Racing Series where she competes against drivers of all ages across the country. Caitlin is interested in all aspects of racing including the business and public relations side. She is also very active in promoting racing in New Mexico. This year she helped to promote and organize a race at Sandia Motorsports Park for all school age children in Albuquerque. Caitlin states, "I love working and talking with people so this was a great opportunity for me to not only have a lot of fun, but also get to see what a racetrack promoter’s job entails."


In addition to racing, Caitlin played soccer for ten years and won a regional and national championship in 2006. Recently, she started playing tennis and played on her high school’s varsity tennis team. Caitlin is a junior at La Cueva High School. She has been enrolled in Advanced Placement English for four years and has taken many correspondence courses to get ahead in her credits. She currently has a 4.0 grade point average and 3.5 cumulative grade point average.
