Butch Reid
Butch grew up in Tucson, Arizona. After high school, he went to work in the mines around Carlsbad until 1982, when he moved to Albuquerque to work for the state of N.M. as a mine inspector. But had 2 yrs of college at the NMSU branch in Carlsbad, and 2 yrs at UNM in Albuquerque. There, he attended the Colorado School of Mines for electrical coal mine certifications. Butch also attended federal mine safety and health academy in Beckley West Virginia for several job related certifications, and trained several mine rescue teams for state and national competitions as a state mine inspector. Butch began his own business in 1986 as an electrical contractor, which he has been doing since.
five Butch has five kids, five step kids, and eight grandkids. Butch jr races a mod out of Carlsbad, and daughter Bobbie races a pavement mod at sandia. Butch started oval racing in 94 at Duke City Raceway in a hobby stock that he and his wife Becky shared the driving responsibilities in; she would run the heat and Butch would run the main (which meant Butch was always starting scratch) After many races she decided that all that mud wasn't for her. So after a semi successful run that year, Butch traded the hobby for an old mod out of carlsbad for the 95 season, which he ran for a year. Then in 96 Butch bought a new shaw mod. The following chronicles Butch's accomplishments on the track:
