Bob Varga
I raced under Bobby Varga (#12) and my brother raced under Ken Varga (#10). 1967 I was a pit crew member for Richie Blaney in his 7 up car. After 4 years in the Navy I came home and Buddy Taylor and I built my first car the winter of 1971/spring of 1972. While I was in the service my father got involve in the racing game by sponsoring Richie Blaney 1968, then Buddy in 1969 and Shawkeet Hindi 1970-72. Shawkeet and I were teammates 1972. 1972 was the year NMMRA ran the circuit all over NM and some Texas. The first time I ever was on a dirt race track was in my sprint car. I never even got on the track in a push truck. Quite a first time. Ken started helping Shawkeet in 1970-71 and helping me in 72. Then built his own car for mid-season 73. He ran 1974 full time and most of 1975. Ken ran at Speedway Park, Aztec and Albuq. Raceway. I raced into 1976 and sold my last stuff to Harold Brooks for his sons to race. I ran at same 3 tracks as Ken plus I ran Lubbock, El Paso, Las Cruces, Denver and Phoenix. My first car I raced 1972 as a yellow/blue trim car. 1973 was a pink/purple trim winged car; 1974 silver/purple trim car. I then sold the car to Terry Mason and bought Cecil Tranthem's 91 car that Buddy was driving for him. 1975 the car was peach/plum trim. 1976 was just a few races with the 1975 paint. Dee Little bought that car and I got my old car back from Terry and put Dan Appel in it.
