BobbieJean Reid
BobbieJean raced at Duke City Raceway for one year in an enduro, raced less than a year in a Street Stock at Sandia Motor Speedway, and raced one year so far at Sandia Motor Speedway in the Modified division (she finished 3rd in points in her rookie season!!! -- 2007)
BobbieJean has raced three cars: Crown Victoria Enduro Car (#63), Street Stock (#63), and a Bates Modified with a 355 cu Chevy (#63BJ).
In 2008 BobbieJean is currently a senior at Moriarty High School and has been accepted to UNM for the 2008 fall season, where she plans to pursue a medical career in specialized Heart Surgery. BobbieJean plans to continue racing Modifieds and maybe (hopefully) some dirt someday!!
BobbieJean has been helping her father for several years with his variety of modifieds. She became the crew chief of his dirt and asphalt mods in 2001 (she was eleven years old). She has learned a lot from him and loves him VERY much!!! Thank you, Daddy!! She has also become close with the Coach's Chassis racing crew because her father has been driving their Late Model since 2003. She has learned much from the Brooks as well! The racing family she's gotten involved in and come to know throughout the years is fantastic! BobbieJean has so many people to thank for their help, support and friendship, such as her daddy (Butch Reid Sr), her big brother (Butch Reid Jr.), her entire family, Mike Andrews, Coach's Chassis, John Andrews, Steve Waldeck, and so many more- Thanks Everybody!
A memorable BobbieJean story: "Well,
you know how seven is supposed to be
a lucky number? Well, I turned 17 on
07/07/07. I had an asphalt race that
day as Sandia Motor Speedway while
my father had a pretty big race at
Hollywood Hills Speedway. This was
my very first race without my daddy.
Well, not so lucky. I made a mistake
coming out of turn two and got
pretty loose. I spun to the inside
and headed straight for the infield.
My luck was certainly not good that
night because the field was packed
pretty tight and racing was pretty
close. Therefore, there was no room
for the mistake that I had already
made! I got hit right in the left
front tire by the car I was racing
close with! Bad luck's not up yet- I
had a pretty stern grip on that
steering wheel and I was still
trying to control the car! The wheel
got ripped out of my hand so fast
and hard that I though I'd broke my
collar bone!! I was rushed to the
emergency room and waited in the
waiting room (in my race suit- you
should've seen the funny looks that
were given to me! ha ah) for several
hours! It turned out not nearly as
bad as I thought... I was just being
a sissy. ha ha. I simply popped my
shoulder ot of place a pulled a few
muscles. Racing is racing. And as
fun as it is... it does come with
it's risks! Be careful out there
ladies and gentlemen, it's a
BLAST!!!!!!!
