I was born and raised in Albuquerque to wonderful parents, Robert (Bob) and Karen Ingram. I have a younger sister, Kelly. Attended and graduated from Manazno High School, class of 1982. Married (the first time) in 1983, and started my family. My oldest son Brandon is 24 and works for DHL in Denver Co. The twins, Kristen and Eric were born on Veterans Day 1988. Kristen is currently in college at UNM and hoping to become a doctor. Eric is working while attending CNM where he plans to get his EMT license and eventually go to work for the Fire Department somewhere down the line. I re-married in 1992 and had the baby of the family Sara in 1997. Sara just completed 5th grade and is looking forward to starting the 6th grade at Jackson Middle School. She is a sweet young lady and talented pianist.
Growing up our family spent a lot of time out at Speedway Park. Dad raced for two years and then hung up his helmet and took over as chief flagmen for 10 or so years. He was exciting to watch since back then he flagged from down on the track not up in a tower. Definitely made for some great stories, but also eventually led to his retirement. So it is safe to say that I grew up around racing and continue to love it to this day. While I am a big fan of NASCAR and enjoy watching them run, to me there is nothing that can compare to a great night of racing on a dirt track. If for nothing other than sentimental reasons Speedway Park will always be my favorite track. Hollywood Hills is my home track and in my opinion one of the finest dirt track facilities in the Southwest if not the country. I feel in the not to distant future it could well be the Eldora of the Southwest. However I have attended many great races at other local tracks. DCR was always a great place for racing action and I hated to see it close. Much like the closing of Speedway Park it was like the ending of an era. I enjoy getting down to Las Cruces when time allows, and always try to make at least one of their big Modified shows each year. If you’ve never made one I encourage you to do so. It’s not uncommon for them to have 80-100 modifeds with drivers coming from all over the country and Canada. Top notch drivers on a fantastic, racy, track! What’s not to love? Aztec is another favorite and well worth the drive. This track is one of my favorites for Sprint car race action. It’s wild to see those guys go two and sometimes three wide in the turns.
In the past few years I’ve become more involved with racing than just as a fan. Dad and I, hating to see the closing of local dirt tracks jumped at the opportunity to get involved with HHS and promoting the track and the great driving talent racing there. That was back in 1994 and I guess you could say the rest is history. While I’ve always been close to my dad, we have grown closer as we get to share our love of racing. It’s a kick to walk to the pits and talk with all of the drivers and their crews. Without a doubt the racing community has some of the best people associated with it and it has been a pleasure getting to know all of them.
When I’m not at the track I work full time as an office administrator for a local body shop. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and love to BBQ during the summer. I have a passion for American muscle cars and enjoy going to car shows and watching shows like Pinks and the Jackson-Barrett auctions. My dream car is a 1968 Camero. Other interest outside of racing includes football (pro, not college), baseball and hockey. I love to read and usually have a book in the works at all times, great way to unwind at the end of the day. I try to get to the gym on a fairly regular basis. I look forward to fall after the race season ends when John and I can take weekend trips in the Vette. Life is good.
